The word YOGA means "union" - the union of the mind*body*spirit. This connection creates awareness, self-realization and presence. It is a gift we can give to ourselves at any age, any time, any ability.

Yoga entails a series of postures or asanas to awaken the healing prana or life force inside. Through simple breath work and movement, we learn how to bring balance back to our minds and bodies.

Yoga is a powerful and fulfilling discipline that improves health, vitality, longevity and emotional balance. By being conscience through breath and movement, one can learn how to dislodge negativity, old beliefs and past experiences from the body.

With patience, determination, understanding and love, anyone can restore vibrant health and healing to the entire body. The benefits are endless! Come see for yourself!

Greetings and Namaskaram!

It's almost here - a New Year ! Sometimes the resolutions of the new year pale in comparison to the resolve it took to get through the last one, and this year could certainly be an example. But, having survived and thrived during the last year, why not resolve to keep the momentum going, to commit to a greater evolution, purpose, and fresh start in 2010?

Oh, it is an old adage. We hear it everywhere, "New Year, new you!", or "Time for fresh start!" These thumping verses can suffocate our inner vision and give us hope that this year, we will be better. We will not be ruled by our odd and weary habits and we will actually achieve the goal we tried for last year, the year before or even the decade before. Fingers crossed.

Resolutions indeed are great methods for growth and change. Make no mistake, change can not occur without it. However, resolutions are nothing without practice. When we practice Yoga (a way of living), we expand our awareness to include more and more of the unconscious mind. This doesn't mean we will always make healthy choices, but it does mean that, at the very least, we have a choice. All of a sudden, all of our unhealthy patterns become clear and we have the option of graciously letting go of unhealthy patterns and replacing them with patterns that truly serve us.

As long as we keep the mind largely unconscious, we are doomed to repeat the same things over and over gain with no hope of real or lasting change. That New Years diet or commitment to exercise will be short lived if we don't work on addressing the real issue at the level of the mind. Fortunately, there are tools available to fine tune the mind (our super computer).... and any form of meditation-including yoga and breath work are designed to do just that.

As we embark into these winter months, this is a great time to embrace the light of the New Year and to acknowledge your own inner flame; your Essence. This recognition of energy will help motivate more mindful and loving decisions. It is an opportunity for re-newel; a gathering of one's energy and chance to joyfully step into your own Dharma; your righteous path! A perfect space for planting the seed (intention), nourishing it (yoga) and experiencing the growth and wisdom it has to share in the months ahead. This discovery into the ever-changing, shimmering quality of Self helps keep us in 'remembrance' and helps hold the tangible sacredness of life close to everyday experience. The natural evolution is to be able to see, express and share the inner reality more completely. Yoga is this path to Self-Realization.

My goal at Wind River Yoga is to help you cultivate your visions and resolutions by offering classes that help you become more self-aware and realized. A time to take for you; to strengthen, stretch and step into your own potential and to ultimately align your *body*mind*spirit with the infinite, universal life force. We all deserve to feel happy, whole and connected! Let us ring in 2009 with peace, prosperity, purpose and grace! May you continue to recognize the Splendor of Life and honor the Greater Force moving and breathing through You! Let's keep the vital pulse of life alive and raise the vibration in the New Year!

Many Blessings!
